#1 Mayson

Mayson Scalp Care Kit

Overall Rating (4.9)
5/5

We found Mayson’s Scalp Care Kit to be the best scalp care product for men experiencing dandruff and irritation. Their blend of high concentration Copper Tripeptide-1 and Salicylic Acid, alongside effective, nourishing plant extracts, ensures users scalps both look and feel healthy. These stand out ingredients are well known for their ability to support skin tissue health, remove flakes and maintain desired moisture levels.

Mayson’s 3 step process: Detox and Repair, Balancing Shampoo and Sooth Activator; removes scalp damage and build up, restores scalp equilibrium, regenerates new hair growth, and soothes the scalp for a well-rounded routine.

Although highly effective at removing dandruff and reducing itch, testers found the 12 active ingredients to work in a gentle, non-aggressive manner to exfoliate, clean and calm their scalp. It is also important to note that Mayson products are free of parabens, phthalates and synthetic fragrances.

After 30 days of use, our team saw a significant reduction in dandruff and felt notably less discomfort throughout their day. We were impressed to find that Mayson sympathies with consumers when it comes to spending money on trying a new product, particularly after many consumers are left disappointed after trying multiple options. Mayson offers a 60 day money-back guarantee which allows over double the time to try the product, than it takes to see results.

This product lives up to its promise with superior ingredients and proven results.

#2 Briogeo

Briogeo Scalp Revival

Overall Rating (4.5)
4.5/5

Briogeo is a reputable brand with an emphasis on cruelty and chemically free products offering a more natural alternative to some of the other products currently on the market. The product range is environmentally friendly and not tested on animals – which gets a big tick from us!

Our team were impressed by its Nova proprietary blend of natural oils and vitamins. It smells fantastic and generally left hair soft and smooth. However, there is still some question around the overall effectiveness of this product to remove dandruff and relieve itchy scalps as a number of testers reported little to no difference, and in cases of fine hair, damage was reported.

Being one of the more expensive brands on the market, we would encourage you to consider carefully before purchasing as it appears this product range may not be suitable for everyone – particularly if you happen to have fine hair.

#3 Sachajuan

Sachajuan Scalp Collection

Overall Rating (4.3)
4.3/5

In third place, we have the Sachajuan Scalp Collection. Sachajuan was created by salon owners Sacha Mitic and Juan Roselind in Stokholm, Sweden with the desire to produce affordable performance hair care that works. This is a complete Kit for the maintenance of a healthy and non-irritated scalp.

The Sachajuan Scalp collection aims to provide nourishment from root to tip with the understanding that healthy hair starts with the scalp. It includes a full size Shampoo (250ml), a full size conditioner (250ml), a full size scalp scrub (250ml) and a scalp brush.

These products include active ingredients that soothe irritation and promote balanced moisture levels. They also include Climbazole, an antifungal agent designed to target irritation such as with dandruff associated conditions. These active ingredients work well with the Scalp brush to improve Scalp health and blood circulation quality.

Our testers experienced satisfactory results in terms of dandruff reduction and soothing capacity. However, found almost immediate dulling of artificial hair colour. Those with oily hair types also discovered that use of these products was minimally beneficial and increased the frequency at which they needed to wash their hair.

#4 Virtue

Virtue Scalp and Hair Kit

Overall Rating (4.0)
4/5

Next we have the Virtue Scalp & Hair Treatment Kit. Virtue is a brand that relies on science to deliver the desirable outcome of healthy hair. They recognise that healthy hair must be taken care of right from the root. Thus, the Virtue Scalp & Hair Treatment Kit is designed to nourish, soothe and rebalance the hair, targeting treatment at the follicle.

This kit includes an Exfoliating Scalp treatment (150ml) which also doubles as a conditioner, a Topical Scalp supplement (60ml) and a Scalp massage tool. The active ingredients of Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) and Fruit enzymes Papain and Bromelain, are meant to work by means of exfoliation, removing dead and damaged skin cells while allowing the scalp to retain an appropriate level of moisture.

Our testers found that while the scalp scrub was beneficial in removing dandruff, the topical scalp supplement left a heavy residue that actually looked like dandruff. The scrub also contains exfoliating beads which are difficult to remove. Both of these minor issues negatively impacted the very concern our testers were attempting to combat. They did enjoy the Scalp massager though!

#5 Revivogen

Revivogen MD Scalp Therapy

Overall Rating (3.8)
3.8/5

Revivogen MD is a dermatologist designed formula that touts itself as a scalp therapy and thinning hair solution. It contains an impressive list of natural ingredients that aim to block Dihydrotestosterone, a hormone which, if you have in excess, is closely associated with hair loss – particularly in men. It is however, important to note that most people do not suffer from elevated DHT levels making it fairly limited in its applicability to the general population.

Unfortunately, while we were impressed by its claims to soothe irritation, prevent future inflammation, increase circulation, and reduce sebum – we were less pleased with the results. Not only was there no apparent change in hair growth; our tester also experienced increased dryness and scalp irritation.

This, alongside a strong chemical smell, a high price tag and mixed consumer reviews, makes this particular product difficult to recommend.
