A skincare routine is a crucial part of allowing your skin to stay healthy, as well as helping you to look and feel your best. When done well, a good skincare routine can also slow down the ageing process and protect your skin from both internal and external, harmful stressors. These ritualistic plans usually consist of a cleanser, a moisturiser and a sunscreen; with some people also including serums, toners and exfoliators. But arguably, the most important step of a skincare routine is cleansing. If you’ve ever tried to jump onto the skincare bandwagon, you may have found that the extensive list of cleansers on the market can be overwhelming and often expensive. That’s why we have created this guide, listing the Best Affordable Cleansers available to you in the UK right now!

Here are the Most Popular Teeth Whitening Products of 2021:

Dr.Dennis Gross Alpha Beta pore perfecting cleansing gel

Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Overall Rating (4.9)
5/5

As a practising dermatologist, Dr. Dennis Gross really knows his stuff when it comes to skin. We believe this expertise is partially responsible for the Dr. Dennis Gross product range being so highly sought after and in such high demand. Another contributing factor to the success of the product range is affordability. With this being said, we couldn’t wait for our team to put one of the products to the test to find out just how well it achieves what it claims to.

Front and centre is the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Pore Perfecting Cleansing Gel which retails for £17.00 in a sleek 60ml bottle. This tongue twister product uses Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) to cleanse without stripping the skin of vital oils allowing it to stay hydrated and balanced. As this daily foaming cleanser is soap and sulphate free, our testers experienced clean and nourished skin with some age-defying effects such as reduced pore size and a reduction in fine lines after only two weeks of twice-daily use.

Although this product is slightly higher in price than the others on the list, we believe it’s worth every penny on the basis that only a small amount is required for a thorough and effective cleanse. We now understand the hype and recommend trying the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Pore Perfecting Cleansing Gel before anything else.

The Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser

Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Overall Rating (4.9)
5/5

Second on our must try list of affordable cleansers is a fan favourite from the Inkey List. This brand has been heading toward the top since their launch in 2018 and part of their success is attributed to the value they provide their customers with. The Inkey List products are also featured on many retailer websites with an always affordable price and review-worthy results.

The product in question is The Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser which comes in a 150ml bottle for £10.99. With six cleansing products in their line, we decided to try this particular one as it is the most highly rated and most frequently reviewed with an average of 4.6/5 stars. The active ingredients of Salicylic acid (BHA) and Zinc had our testers excited for a reduction in breakouts and they were definitely not disappointed.

Our team noticed that not only were their breakouts minimised and texture reduced but The Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser also managed to reduce pigmentation of old acne scarring. They were also impressed with how affordable this ginormous and long lasting cleanser was, with some stating that they may need to share it with their partners to get through the bottle.

However, those with naturally dry skin suggest that this product may not be ideal for them, or at least not everyday, as it can leave those more dry skin types feeling dehydrated.

All in all, for those with naturally oily and combination skin, we think you would love this fan favourite. And for those of you with naturally dry skin, we still believe that this product is a must try for a twice weekly deep cleanse.

The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser

Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Overall Rating (4.9)
5/5

Now, how could we create a list of affordable skincare without including a product from The Ordinary? Exactly, that would just be absurd. The Ordinary are best known for their incredibly affordable prices and their reviews suggested supreme quality too. For these reasons, we knew that we wanted our Team to try out one of their highly-rated products.

One of the best sellers from this range is The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser. At only £5.50 for a 50ml bottle, it almost seems too good to be true. So what did our testers truly think of this product? With the active ingredient of Squalane, a naturally occurring component in our skin, there are no surprises that The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser was able to deliver a decent cleanse that allowed the skin to stay hydrated.

Unfortunately with the balm-like texture, our testers found that they went through the product very quickly as they needed to use more with each use than they had expected to. Despite the average 4.5/5 stars, our team would rate The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser a ⅘ as although it cleaned their skin, it seemed to do little for congestion.

If you’re looking for an extraordinarily affordable cleanser, we would recommend trying The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser, particularly if your skin is dry. If however, you’re wanting to combat congestion, this product might not be at the top of your wishlist.

Youth To The People Superfood Cleanser

Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Overall Rating (4.9)
5/5

Youth to the people. If you really care about the environment but haven’t heard of them yet, today is your lucky day. This company ticks many of the eco-warrior boxes, being vegan, cruelty free, and FSC verified. Their vision also relies on natural and nutrient-rich superfoods to be the star of each and every one of their products.

As we too enjoy a clear conscience and like to know we’re making small changes to improve the health of our world, we knew we wanted to try this product. Coming in a 59ml or 237ml bottle, the Youth To The People Superfood Cleanser ranges from £12 – £31. We were disappointed to find that the application dropper only comes with the 237ml size which means when trying the 59ml bottles, our testers had to either very carefully pour a few drops onto their palm or unhygienically flip the bottle in their palm to access the gel-like cleanser.

So how did the actual product weigh up? As you will know by now, our product testers have a range of different skin types. Those with oily or combination skin saw better results in comparison to our testers with dry skin. All of those involved in the testing process experienced reduced congestion, even more so than number 3 on our list. However, the irritation that occurred for our dry skin team members has pushed this product to number 4 on our list. Top 5 is still pretty impressive. It is also worth noting that all of our testers confess that this cleanser smells amazing.

We would recommend this product if you pride yourself on sustainability and have oily to combination skin.

Paula’s Choice Clear Cleanser

Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Overall Rating (4.9)
5/5

Paula’s Choice is quickly rising in popularity with a loyal following thanks to their companies affordable prices, transparent values and effective range. Through both their presence and their products, Paula’s Choice recognises that texture on the skin is normal and they are leading the way in the self-love movement, normalising our naturalities. In fact, the product that made it to our list of affordable cleansers, Paula’s Choice Clear Cleanser, is designed especially for pore normalising. Although the messaging may not be obvious to all, we love to see it.

The Paula’s Choice Clear Cleanser retails at £5.00 for a 30ml sized bottle. It is designed to specifically target blemish prone skin and that is just what it did for our testers. Although it took a while to have blemish-controlling effects, all of our testers felt that their skin was less congested after just one use. The Salicyclic acid in this product means that it is less than ideal for naturally dry skin and should only be used twice-weekly for those individuals. Paula’s Choice do have a cleanser suited to dry skin types too, recommending their Skin-balancing cleanser instead.

For its incredible price point, the Paula’s Choice Clear Cleanser provides exceptional value to those with acne-prone skin. We are proud to say that if this cleanser were more suitable for all skin types, it would be climbing our list rapidly.
